Changing of the Guard Date: March 23, 2006 Guest Speaker: Ron Johnson Topic: Thank you Mayor Johnson for a great event. You were our first “historic event”.
Growing Up At Lands' End Date: April 18, 2006 Guest Speaker: Tom Mayers
The Tom Mayers event was our largest ever with over 60 people attending.
Tom has a wonderful power point presentation showing the animals of the key
some great historic pictures of Lands End in the "good old days". We hope to
have this presentation available on a permanent basis at the museum as soon as possible.

A Tribute to Ralph & Claire Hunter Date: May 18, 2006
This event was a tribute to Ralph and Claire Hunter for their many years of
commitment to the Longboat Key Historical Society. Both of them took the mic and told
some colorful and interesting stories about the society over the years. The audience
participated with comments and questions for the Hunters.
Old Time Fish Fry Date: October 20, 2006
This event featured a savory fish dinner, live music and great raffles. The fish fry was
an overwhelming success. The weather and music were perfect with over 300 people attending.

Docents Luncheon Date: December 7, 2006
Our first ever docents lunch, at the Colony Beach , was a tremendous success. The company
was great, as well as the food. All of the docents received a journal to record their
history. A big thanks to all of our docents who do so much for our museum. They bring our
history alive to all of our museum visitors.
Speaker Art Ferguson Date: January 18, 2007
Our first speaker of the year Art Ferguson, started our speakers series with a bang!! Art
brought some seldom seen slides of the key in the 1940’s & 1950’s. His slides along with
his vivid recollections of those days made for a very entertaining evening. We had almost
60 people attend! We hope to add his slides to our collection. Thanks, Art, for a
wonderful start to our second season.
